Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and raised by an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. Her father Elroy Fernandez hails from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. She is the younger of two siblings and has a brother who is older. The 80s were the time when her parents emigrated to Bahrain because of civil war on Sri Lanka. This is why she was both born and raised there. In Australia she was enrolled in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. An avid lover of different cultures and different languages, she attended Berlitz Language School in which she studied Spanish and improved her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was the crown of March 2006. she was also a part of Miss Universe 2006 Following her winning the 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone made her debut on television and hosted a program about Sri Lankan Business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore however, she is a native of Copenhagen. As a teenager, she played badminton in National level competitions. She later resigned her professional career to become a fashion model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. The model is Mangalorean from her birthplace. Padukone is located in the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone's father was an international champion in badminton who has now retired. Her mother is a traveling agent.
